Static Grounding Reels

Hunter Spring has been producing static grounding reels, also known as static discharge reels, for over 50 years.  Our reels are used all over the world for grounding and bonding industrial, commercial and military equipment (NSN numbers available here). As a supplier to many customers in the fuel transportation and aircraft refueling industries, we meet exacting specifications (A-A-50696) in critical applications where the discharge of static electricity could cause a spark and subsequent explosion.

Our ROTA-REEL and Heavy-Duty ML-2930 and ML-3416 series reels are built for reliable performance and can be used when combustible materials are transferred between carriers (rail to rail, rail to truck, truck to tank, etc). These static grounding reels are ideal for use in ground support for aircraft, bulk powder transfer stations, terminals and refineries.  Our newly designed stainless steel reels offer enhanced protection in harsh, outdoor and combustible dust environments as well as food and pharmaceutical applications where paint and surface coatings are prohibited.  

All of our heavy-duty ML-2930 and ML-3416 models are equipped with an internal retraction brake which slows down the retraction speed of the cable to between 2-7 ft/sec.

    Our heavy duty reels feature our SPIR’ATOR prestressed power spring and are available in 50ft, 75ft and 100ft lengths. Our patented latch mechanism holds the cable at any desired length. It takes only a slight tug on the cable to release the latch.
